The actors, politicians Sarathkumar and his wife Radhika Sarathkumar were sentenced to one year in prison by the court. According to media reports, the Kollywood couple are facing the same in a check rebound affair. In 2015, the production company of Radhika and Sarathkumar obtained loans of Rs 50 Lakhs from Radiant Group to produce the film “Idhu Enna Maayam”. The film was directed by AL Vijay and it starred Vikram Prabhu and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles.

The couple could not have paid off the loan and the undated Rs 10 Lakhs checks that had been pledged as collateral rebounded in March 2017. The Radiant Group then approached the court in 2018. Later, in 2019, the High Madras court had refused to set aside criminal proceedings against the actor couple in the two-check rebound case. Today, 4 years later, the court announced the judgment of one year in prison.

Meanwhile, Sarathkumar and his wife Radhikaa Sarathkumar were transferred to a special court to request a suspension of the sentence. As mentioned in a report from Indian Express, the court also allowed the stay of the sentencing petition presented by Sarathkumar, saying the issue will be resolved.

Radhikaa is the daughter of the late Tamil actor and comedian MR Radha and Geetha. She married actor Sarathkumar on February 4, 2001.
