The mother was thrown from the bike and the trailer with the baby inside was overturned and dragged by the car for several feet, Jackson said.

The driver of the vehicle, a 28-year-old man from Ypsilanti, was taken to a local hospital for a blood test to determine if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, Jackson said.

It is not known where the woman was riding the bicycle at the time of the accident. No charges have been issued and the incident is still under investigation.
